Pair Of Rural Scenes at Dusk & Evening, Dated 1838. Oil On Board. Interiors together with a red nibA pair of oils on boards depicting a snowy barn at dusk and a moonlit woodland scene. Both by the same hand. Both illegibly signed. The date of '1838' is just legible to the lower right of the barn scene. Both works are extremely well done with the artist displaying real skill in their depiction of light. In the barn scene in particular, the artist has used timpasto very effectively to provide an almost three dimensional depiction of the thatched barn
